“A prince who himself is not wise cannot be well advised.”
Nicholo Machiavelli, 1469-1527.
Chief Oyegun, former Chairman of APC must be having a good belly laugh now as he observes the confusion which had descended on his party. A methodical, mature and wise administrator with decades of experience was hounded out of office and replaced with a “shoot from the hip” successor. Palaver started early. New ogapatapata ordered a Minister to inaugurate board or get sacked. Minister told him to get lost. Board is still not appointed.
Oga ordered Saraki to quit as Senate President while the National Assembly was in recess. Saraki dismissed his utterances with a wave of hand. The NASS opened briefly to pass the INEC bill and nobody even asked Saraki to vacate his seat.
Later, the APC Secretariat announced that all the primaries except the Presidential will be by indirect vote.” No” said some powerful blocs within APC. Secretariat changed tune saying all will face direct election. Still more dissent from the states; some agree; others disagree. Finally, Oga announced the fees for forms for intending candidates and the roof is caving in. Extortion. Is this change?
Three years ago Oyegun managed these seamlessly. Now, APC knows why wisdom is priceless. “Gragra” leaders, like reckless drivers, end up crashing the vehicle and getting a lot of people killed or maimed. Is this change?
